Becoming a Certified Lend A Heart Therapy Team

Thank you for your interest in pet therapy with Lend A Heart. Lend A Heart is always seeking volunteers who live in the Sacramento, California area. If you enjoy working with people and have a pet who also loves people you might consider joining us.

If you think you and your pet have the skills and temperament to do this kind of work, follow the steps below.

1. Review our Membership Guidelines
2. Complete a Volunteer Questionnaire
3. Attend a General Membership Meeting with your pet.  They are held the last Thursday of each month.  RSVP to a General Membership Meeting.
4. Attend a Shadow Visit. Review the Facilities Calendar; choose a facility and date, then RSVP to a Shadow Visit.
5. Complete an Obedience and Behavior Verification with your trainer.
6. Attend an Orientation with your pet.
7. Evaluate with your pet.

Note:  Orientations and Evaluations are held quarterly.  After you’ve submitted a Volunteer Questionnaire, attended a General Membership Meeting with your pet, and Shadowed a Visit, you’ll receive an invitation to attend an Orientation and a subsequent Evaluation date.
